“Perspective” is probably the fil-rouge connecting the different themes emerged from our AW 22/23 catwalk analysis: sex, deconstruction, unexpected pairings and ex-quisite ones, like the Gucci-Adidas combo, may suggest a renewed optimism for the next winter, but not so much if we pay attention to the gothic appeal and the military references that characterized some looks and collection. As the future will depend more and more on one’s perspective, here you can get a taste of our own: keep reading to discover the top 5 trends to have an eye on according to our predictions:

1. PLUMAGE

Plumage, already spotted in SS 22  as one of the main directions, keeps gaining importance in all the four cities: apart from the fluffy looks of most coats, many feathered items appeared all over the catwalks, from gowns to shoes up to balaclavas, adding a touch of overtexture and glam to every look.

2. TIES

The tie keeps gaining importance. It’s almost time to make space again for it in our wardrobe: you can be inspired from the chic versions of Gucci to the urban Westwood one, up to the colorful printed proposal of Louis Vuitton and the destructured one from No-Sesso.

3. MILITARY INFUSED

Several military references have characterized shapes, lines, textures and colors of different outfits, especially in outerwear but also in severald details like medals and helmets.

4. SUSPENDERS

In the era of vanilla shame, catwalks are plenty of BSDM references, with a great user of latex. But while corsets turn futuristic and with a sporty appeal, the most sensual inspiration comes from sexy tights and from all-things-related, especially garters and suspenders.

5. TROMPE L’OEIL

Designers used light, layered prints and trompe l’oeil techniques to play with perception, a trend already seen in the previous season that is quietly reaching its tipping point. From the most extreme and playful version of Moschino and Loewe up to the most subtle ones of Proenza Shouler and Balmain, on catwalks the body illusion is served (see also Schiaparelli, D&G and Diesel for further inspirations).
